The builder of the plane, his first one, used analog instruments, a cb radio, etc.  Once I finished buying the plane, I felt I could improve the panel a bit. My goals were:

1: Spread the ASI and ALT apart as far as possible to increase the readability from the rear seat.
2: Add an electronic instrument to better monitor the engine.
3: Get rid of the cb radio.
4: Add better circuit protection, and circuits for lighting, strobes, tiny cabin spot lites, panel lite, and landing light.
5: Move the radio and gps up. They are not shown, but the mounted to each side tube, and were below the panel. They are now located on RAM mounts and are at the blank space to each side of the panel.  Visibility of them is greatly improved.
6: Combine all the start / ignition switches onto one switch.
7: add an ammeter for monitoring of charging rates.
8: Hard wire the gps, radio and comm to get rid of plugs which work loose.
9: All wiring is now tefzel aircraft wire.
10: Got rid of cheap compass. Bought a vertical card compass, mounted to the tubes at the gap cover. I could have mounted it in the lower half of the new panel, but decided to isolate it better.
    My company does drafting work, so it was easy for me to model the panel and instruments. A local shop cut it out using a cnc punch, but now has capability to laser cut it. Anodizing was done, and I have vinyl lettering to complete the project. I would be happy to help other builders if they want a very custom panel.
